So Scott Lobdell (Happy Death Day, X-Men) sent me the script for The Move. The title page said Directed by Kat Graham. I immediately called him and was like, What the fuck is this, Scott? I’m no director. And he said, Give yourself a chance.So in 2020, when we were all on lockdown, I called my buddy Lex (who I like to claim I discovered) and said, Hey, you wanna make this with me? There’s no money, no studio, just us. And he said, Fuck it, let’s do it.We went back and forth with the edit, and now, five years later, it finally came to life.Why did it take so long? Honestly, it just didn’t feel right to push it out before. After COVID, I got back to work—shot back-to-back films, released back-to-back albums. Lex was working nonstop too, and we were both significantly busier. But more than that, something about it just didn’t feel quite ready to put out yet.And then I met Angel, a.k.a. Cloname. We built my AI together and ended up partnering with the tech giant that is Google. Even though The Move focuses on themes about alternate realities, it suddenly made sense—as if this story about a duplicate version of myself had finally found its moment. The rollout clicked.So anyway… here’s my directorial debut trailer for The Move.The film drops July 11. In seven days.I hope you guys dig what we made.P.S. I had the honor of participating in the @borrowedspotlight exhibition opening — part of the Holocaust Portrait Project by the amazing @brycethompson. I finally got to see the art and the book up close, and it truly moved me.As part of this project, I had the privilege of meeting Holocaust survivor Yetta Kane.This was deeply personal for me — my own grandmother fled Europe during the Holocaust, and her story has always shaped who I am.Projects like this are more than just art. They’re sacred acts of remembrance.At just 8 years old, Yetta served as a courier for the Partisan resistance, helping fight the Nazis from within. Out of 400 family members, only three survived. “We survived,” she told me, “because we were under God’s wings for over three and a half years in the forest.”Her strength, her grace, and her light will stay with me forever.
