Elton John songs will be put up for auction at Julien's Auctions on November 9 in New York.
The personal belongings of the poet Berne Topin, who has worked with the musician for many years, will go under the hammer. It was Topin who wrote more than 40 song lyrics that hit Elton John. The event will be devoted to this half a century collaboration.
Bidders will be able to compete for original lyrics of songs such as Rocket Man, I'm Still Standing, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Your Song. One of the lots - the typewritten text of the song Candle in the Wind, signed by the author of the lines at the end (version 1997) - was dedicated to the memory of Princess Diana.
