American pop star Britney Spears apologized to fans for pretending to be okay after she testified in a custody trial in Los Angeles, USA.
She wrote about it on her Instagram account.
According to Britney, she didn't bring her problems to the public eye because that's what her mother once did.
"I believe that all people want a great life, and from what I've written, my life seems amazing and beautiful. I think that's what we all strive for. It was one of my mother's best habits .... No matter how bad the day was when I was little, for the sake of my siblings and me, she always pretended that everything was okay. I write about this because I don't want people to think my life is perfect. It's not," she explained.
Spears apologized to fans for faking it for the past two years, and she also admitted that Instagram helped her get through her struggles and feel like someone cares about her.
"I'm sorry I've spent the last two years pretending like I was doing okay. I did it out of pride and also because I was embarrassed to talk about what happened to me. But honestly, who doesn't want to run their Instagram in a fun world. Believe it or not, pretending I was okay helped..." the singer added.
