James Spears has filed a petition with the court to remove him from his role as Britney's guardian.
The BBC reports this.
A lawyer representing Mr. Spears said that there is "no real reason to do so," he doesn't want to continue this "public battle with his daughter" anymore.
As a reminder, Britney Spears has been in the custody of her father, James Spears, and others since 2008. The charge of the singer was appointed after she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital because of her alcohol and drug problems.
In July, the star petitioned her father to stop controlling her assets and said she would no longer perform while he remained in a guardianship role.
