Kanye West will just be called Ye

The artist has filed the appropriate paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court, stating that he wants to change his name "for personal reasons."

The musician filed a name change request on Aug. 11. A judge must approve it. In California, courts almost always approve such requests -- unless there is reasonable suspicion that the name change is needed to commit fraud, TMZ writes.

West announced the name change to Ye back in 2018 after releasing his album of the same name but only did so on his social media accounts at the time.

According to Kanye, Ye is not only a shortened form of his name but, according to him, the most used word in the Bible that means "you."
