Andy Garcia has always held Diane Keaton in high regard.

Nearly three weeks after the esteemed actress passed away at 79 due to pneumonia, Garcia reminisced about their time together in The Godfather III and Book Club.

During an interview with Erin Lim Rhodes at the 5th annual Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television in Los Angeles on October 24, Andy described Diane as a "unicorn." He praised her as a "unique spirit" and an "American original," emphasizing her indefinable and special nature.

At 69, Garcia felt privileged to have shared the screen with her multiple times, most recently in 2023’s Book Club: The Next Chapter. He referred to this experience as a "great blessing."

Following her passing, Andy shared nostalgic photos on Instagram from their time filming the Godfather sequel in Sicily, bringing back fond memories. He fondly stated, “Diane you will be deeply missed, but your sublime light will shine forever.”

Garcia further expressed his admiration on Instagram, calling Diane “a beacon of spontaneity and originality” and added, “I was blessed to be in her light. I will carry it with me forever.”

Al Pacino's Heartfelt Tribute

Diane’s The Godfather III co-star, Al Pacino, also shared a poignant message. Al described Diane as his partner and friend, someone who brought joy into his life and influenced him profoundly. Reflecting on their past relationship from 1974 to 1990, Pacino expressed enduring and vivid memories of Diane, highlighting her resilience and humanity.
