Dakota Johnson Makes Unexpected Appearance Alongside Lily Allen on SNL

Dakota Johnson made a graceful and unexpected entrance on the Saturday Night Live stage.

On the December 13 episode of SNL, hosted by Josh O’Connor, the Material Girls star appeared unannounced during Lily Allen's musical set, embodying the role of the mistress featured in Allen’s popular song “Madeline.”

Throughout the performance, Dakota, 36, was seen reclining on a bed concealed behind sheer curtains as Lily sang the story of a woman confronting her husband’s affair with a woman named Madeline. Dakota’s identity remained a mystery until the closing moments when she stepped forward to place a gentle kiss on Lily’s cheek.

Adding depth to the act, Dakota voiced text messages from the fictional mistress, delivering lines that gave insight into the complicated relationship.

As Madeline, she said, “Hey, he is telling you the truth. Our relationship has only ever been about sex. I can promise you that this is not an emotional connection. We don’t speak outside the time we spend together. And whenever he talks about you, it’s with the utmost respect.”

Lily, who recently ended her marriage with David Harbour in 2024, portrayed the emotional conflict of whether to believe Madeline’s words, while the character ultimately appeared sincere and supportive.

Madeline added compassionately, “I hate that you’re in so much pain right now. I really don’t want to cause any upset. He told me you knew about this and gave your full consent. If that’s not true, please tell me. I have no tolerance for dishonesty. Lies are not something I want to be involved in.”

She concluded with an open invitation: “Feel free to reach out anytime if you want more information or just need to vent. Love and light, Madeline.”

For her surprise role, Dakota wore a delicate black lace dress paired with a sheer embellished robe, accessorized with a bold green necklace and styled with her iconic bangs.

Known for her daring fashion choices, Dakota nearly experienced a wardrobe malfunction during a June 2025 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she humorously acknowledged her revealing outfit.

Arriving in a short black dress with a plunging neckline, she exclaimed, “Oh, God,” before joking, “This was the wrong outfit,” while assuring the host she would maintain perfect posture to avoid any mishaps.
