Emily Blunt Humorously Shares How John Krasinski’s Turtleneck Nearly Turned Her Off

Who knew that turtlenecks could be so divisive?

Emily Blunt recently opened up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon about her husband John Krasinski’s bold fashion pick at this year’s Golden Globes.

“When John suggested wearing a turtleneck, I had to keep a straight face and say, ‘Oh, that sounds lovely,’ even though I was internally doubtful,” she admitted on the April 28 episode.

On the red carpet, John donned a sleek black turtleneck paired with a suit jacket, while Emily dazzled in a white dress with a cape. Despite her initial hesitation, Emily found his look quite charming in the end.

“He reminded me of Michael Caine with that cool ’60s style,” she said. “But honestly, turtlenecks usually give me the ick.”

Though Emily may portray a fashion expert on screen in The Devil Wears Prada, she has her own fashion preferences when it comes to menswear.

“I’m okay with a classic James Dean leather jacket,” she explained, “but not the shiny, tight, cropped bomber jackets that look like something a dad would wear.”

Her family may not always appreciate her style critiques, but they are enthusiastic fans of her work, especially with the upcoming sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, which hits theaters on May 1.

“My kids only recently watched the movie because their friends are really into it,” Emily shared with E! News. “They absolutely love it.”

She also revealed John’s excitement about the new film: “He’s a huge fan of the original, so he’s really thrilled about this one.”
