Jennifer Lopez Delights in Off Campus Using Her Hit Song
Note: This piece includes light spoilers for season one of Off Campus.
Jennifer Lopez is clearly a fan of Off Campus, and she made that known in a big way.
The pop star was especially pleased that the Prime Video drama featured her collaboration with Pitbull, "On the Floor," during the now widely discussed dance sequence between Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis.
Speaking to Variety at the Off Romance premiere in Los Angeles on May 26, Lopez said the series was "so cute" and admitted she loved seeing the song included in the show.
She also pointed out that the track found new life on the charts more than a decade after its original release, calling that kind of comeback unusual in today’s music industry.
Lopez was so entertained by the moment that she later teamed up with Mika Abdalla to recreate the scene for a TikTok video, which quickly spread online.
The song plays a key role in the growing chemistry between Allie and Dean, whose storyline creator Louisa Levy has said will take center stage in season two.
In the episode, the pair first connect at a Halloween party, where Dean notices Allie in a version of Lopez’s famous green Versace dress and asks who she is.
When another player suggests putting on "On the Floor," the dance floor suddenly shifts into a more flirtatious mood, even though Allie is still tied to her on-and-off relationship with Sean McCall.
Despite the no-touching rule, the scene still crackles with tension and gives viewers a preview of the pair’s romantic potential.
Mika Abdalla has said she is eager to explore more of Allie and Dean’s emotional layers if the story continues, explaining that both characters hide a lot beneath their outward personas.
She noted that season one only scratched the surface, while the books offer much more depth to uncover.
As fans wait for the next chapter of Off Campus, here are more upcoming book adaptations to keep on your radar.
