Teyana Taylor’s Little Ones Steal the Spotlight in Adorable First-Day School Photos

Teyana Taylor may not be the one returning to class, but her daughters just made a strong case for the family resemblance.

The Oscar-nominated star and her ex Iman Shumpert’s children, Junie, 10, and Rue, 5, were featured in sweet back-to-school snapshots posted to Shumpert’s Instagram on Aug. 13. Dressed in their first-day outfits with backpacks in tow, the girls posed in a series of charming photos that captured the excitement of a new school year. One outdoor image, with Teyana crouching beside them, made the resemblance between mother and daughters especially impossible to miss.

Teyana responded to the post in the comments with two red heart emojis, showing her love for the special moment.

The Coming 2 America actress has often spoken about how much her daughters mean to her. While accepting the first-ever Icon of the Year honor at the 2026 BET Awards in June, she gave Junie and Rue a heartfelt nod from the stage.

“If one day people remember me as an icon,” she said, “I pray the two of you always remember me simply as home. Mommy loves you so, so much.”

She has also shared that her girls are among her toughest style judges. Speaking to E! News at the American Music Awards in May, Taylor joked that her daughters keep her honest when it comes to fashion.

“I mean, these are my two biggest fashion critics,” she said. “They keep me in check. They keep the outfits tea, as they would say. I’m really excited to always make them proud. I love when they love my outfits.”

And Rue has already proven she’s happy to return the compliment. At the Actor Awards in March, the 5-year-old stood beside her mother and sweetly thanked everyone for honoring Teyana, adding that the guests’ outfits looked “very good.”
