I made a new friend who joined me for my morning meditation 🌞🧘‍♂️🦉 and strangely reminded me of an old friend too.

Its been a beautiful Nappy Summer 🥂 We were all honored to celebrate Uncle Nappy’s 90TH BIRTHDAY (he looks AMAZING btw) this summer with so much love and aloha on the island of Maui with all ohana and friends ❤️ 🌊🌴 I’ve become very close with Uncle Nappy and I’ve cherished every moment we’ve spent together and every day we just sit for hours and “talk story”. As you guys may know, I’m writing a book on Nappy’s EXTRAORDINARY LIFE (along with my writing partner Nick Bilton, who’s also become close with Nappy). Very exciting project that we hold close to our hearts. And next year we’ll start production on a film based on Nappy’s life. An epic saga about the underworld’s most respected boss, Nappy Pulawa. I’ll have the honor of transforming into Nappy. Directed by Martin Scorsese. Happy Birthday Uncle and thank you for continuing to teach me so much, including the all important E Ho’omanawanui — the quality of patience and endurance. Great to welcome Mike Repole to our @UFL ownership group. Mike’s a force of nature who knows how to build big, disruptive brands with tenacity and grit - a few traits I’ve been familiar with a time or two. My goal is to help build a spring football league that creates amazing opportunities for hard working players to make something of themselves, and to be able to take care of their families financially.As a player, which I once was - that’s always been the athlete’s dream. I know my old Boys & Girls Club @bgch808 here in Hawaii doesn’t look like much - but to me it’ll always be a scared spot. It’s connected to my old middle school (Washington) and everyday after school me and my bradah’s would slowly learn the value of discipline & hard work. I say “slowly” because after our workouts we’d run across the field to @zippys and eat our daily “post workout meal”…FOUR chocolate glazed donuts 🍩😂🤙🏾I’ll always be a big advocate for our Boys & Girls Club’s across America, and all after school programs here in Hawaii, because I know the value and impact it has on a kid like - I was a good kid at heart, but struggled trying to do the right thing and stay out of trouble. Always good for the soul and mana to come back home. Loved taking a quiet walk around my scholastic stomping grounds back home here in Honolulu - Washington Middle School 🦅 Not much has changed, but yet.. so much has changed. Walking around here, immediately took me back to a time where I was this tall, lanky, pimply 13 year old kid who really tried to do the right things, but getting in trouble all over town and chasing girls seemed to be my daily passions 🤣 We all grow up, and life gets crazy. I feel like we all need these kinds of “reflective visits” to our old stomping grounds - keeps us humble, grounded and grateful. Always good to be home. #honolulu #washingtonmiddleachool#townside 🤙🏾

8:57am my two little tornadoes beg me to let them have a make up party on my head. 8:59am I agree to the torture. 9:04am they get into a huge fight over “the kind” of make up they’re going to give me so they decide to split my face down the middle and each one of them can do whatever they want to “their side” of daddy’s face 👀 10:17am I’m in the shower realizing this s#%t takes forever to wash off. 11am zoom meeting, realizing I still have nail polish on 💅🏾🙋🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ But in the end when it’s time to tuck ‘em in to bed, and kiss ‘em goodnight - you remember quick that they’re only little once and you’d do anything to make ‘em laugh and smile. Shout to all my girl dads, as we know there is no greater blessing, bond and responsibility than father’s raising daughters. Every man they meet, will be measured by the very first man who loves them for life - their fathers. How we love them, respect them, laugh with them, protect them, and when we stumble - and we will - how we own up to it, take accountability and work hard to be better. How cool is that??
