@eltonjohn will be the first artist to take the stage at @applemusichall. He tells @zanelowe about his forthcoming solo show and the importance of live music in London.

I’m so sad to hear of @bobmackie’s passing.Every time I put something on that Bob made, I felt very, very special. His costumes were works of art, and he will go down as one of the most legendary designers ever in Hollywood.Bob had extraordinary vision and the workmanship was unreal. I don’t think I ever wore a Bob Mackie outfit and had anything fall off – not a sequin or a rhinestone or anything. His clothes were made so beautifully. He loved glamour like I love glamour, but more than anything, we shared the same sense of humour and had so much fun together. In a sea of ego, he seemed to have none. One of the most courteous, incredible people I ever had the pleasure of working with.Thank you, Bob ❤️

Statement on U.S. House Appropriations advancing funding for the fight against AIDS:We applaud the U.S. House Appropriations Committee for providing billions of dollars in 2027 for the fight against AIDS around the world. This funding will help countries gradually take over and run their own HIV programs, while also supporting the important work of Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. As the process moves forward in the Senate, we hope that additional resources can be found to ensure the U.S. pledge to the Global Fund of $4.6 billion over three years is reached on an annual basis. We also hope immediate ‘bridge’ funding will be sent to the front lines to help keep people alive while new agreements with partner countries are finalized.

Hitting the dance floors since 1978…

One of my favourite things to do has been dig through crates for new vinyl, and with Record Store Day tomorrow, I wanted to shine a light on some of my favourite record stores…@amoebahollywood@supervinylusa@recordsafari@roughtradewestTag the local record store you’ll be visiting this @recordstoreday / @recordstoredayus below 👇

Less than two months ago, a Republican-led Congress and the President came together to pass a bipartisan budget that reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to ending the AIDS epidemic - a goal first set out in President Trump’s 2019 State of the Union.Today, we have extraordinary new tools to prevent HIV and treat it more effectively than ever before. Ending AIDS is within reach. But progress is fragile, and without sustained investment, it can quickly be reversed. Now is not the moment to pull back. It is the moment to double down. We urge both Congress and the Administration to once again come together to protect and strengthen funding for HIV/AIDS. Millions of lives depend on it, and the opportunity to end this epidemic, once and for all, must not be lost.

POSITIVA PRESENTS: ELTON JOHN - THE REMIXESRECORD STORE DAY18TH APRIL

There are moments in music that feel completely new, even after all these years. Recently, I sat at my piano and played Tiny Dancer - just me, no vocals. As I played, the incredible artist Jack Coulter painted alongside me, translating every note into colour. Seeing my music through Jack’s eyes, through his gift of synaesthesia, was something so special and extraordinary. It meant so much to see it find a home during the #EJAFOscars auction, raising $275,000 to support the Foundation’s work around the world ❤️ 🚀

Philanthropy has shaped our lives in ways we could never have imagined. In a new conversation with @chronicleofphilanthropy, we share what we’ve learned from decades in the fight against HIV/AIDS - from the heartbreak that first inspired @ejaf to the scientific breakthroughs that give us hope today. Read the full Q&A at the link in bio and learn why bold action and partnership matters more than ever.

The incredible @saintharison returns for a second time to join me on Rocket Hour this week. His voice - as unmistakable as his hair - marks him out as one of the great sounds of his generation. I can’t wait to see what he does next.Listen now on @applemusic 🚀
